The damage of sound to hearing is medically called noise sputum, and noise sputum is mainly divided into chronic acoustic damage and acute acoustic damage.

Therefore, in theory, the damage of the earphone to the hearing is mainly related to the volume of listening to music and the time of wearing the earphone, regardless of the way of wearing.

An in-ear earphone user who listens to music for 3 hours a day and drives up to 70 decibels, is more likely to suffer from hearing loss than a normal earbud user who listens to music for 5 hours a day and turns to 100 decibels. Under the premise of the same volume of the same use time, there should be no significant difference.

According to the state's regulations on labor protection, the 8-hour working noise tolerance is 85 decibels, but not more than 90 decibels.

As the friend said, the primary manifestation of noise sputum is tinnitus, which in turn leads to hearing loss, and can even cause dysfunction of the cerebral cortex, autonomic nervous system, heart, endocrine and digestive system.

However, if the symptoms of hearing impairment are detected early and intervened in time, they can be fully recovered.

At the same time, the in-ear headphones can isolate a part of the ambient noise to a certain extent, that is to say, in theory, the in-ear headphones can hear more sound details with a smaller volume. But this point has not yet been heard to have relevant clinical trials to prove.

As a multi-year earphone user, I have used both ordinary earplugs and in-ear earphones. Now I use the in-ear type.

Compared with the wearing comfort, it is still slightly better than the in-ear style. Because the mid-to-high-end in-ear headphones come with a variety of rubber or sponge covers, there is always one for you. The ear canal feels almost stress-free when worn. When the common earplugs are worn for a long time, the external auditory canal will have a feeling of pain.
